| Established
as a mining community in the late 1800’s,
Park City is still steeped in silver mining tradition.
The flavor of the “silver rush” lingers throughout the city
in renovated miner’s shacks made over into ski lodges. Park
City moved into the limelight as the host of the many 2002
Winter Olympic venues. Only 36 miles from the Salt Lake
International Airport, Park City’s quaint mountain village
appeals to visitors from all over the world who come to
participate in winter and summer pastimes.
Park City
is located at 6,900 feet above sea level
and rises to an excess of 10,000 feet. Famous for its snow,
which tops the charts with well over 350 inches, Park City
has three unique, world-class ski resorts within five miles
of each other (Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort
and The Canyons). But as a year-round recreation “hot spot,”
the choices in entertainment and attractions, art and cultural
events, and athletic and leisurely activities are limitless.
You
can enjoy the thrill of speeding down the same bobsled run
used in the 2002 Winter Olympics when you visit the
Utah Olympic Park –home of the Olympic bobsled, luge, freestyle
aerial, skeleton & ski jumping competitions. You can
also sail through the air at a 33% grade on the Xtreme Zip,
world’s steepest zip line, originating 110 feet above ground.
With 1,454 hair-raising feet in total length, the k120 zipline
reaches a maximum speed of 55 miles per hour with a 435-foot
vertical drop.
After an action-packed day in the cold
you can warm up, relax, and enjoy downtown Park City.
